James is a Business Director working across the British Airways account for the world’s largest advertising company, WPP. Prior to this, James worked across all manner of advertising accounts, from BT Sport to Jack Daniel’s. Before moving to London, James studied Economics and Politics at the University Of Birmingham.
James started mentoring at Haverstock in 2014, when at his previous agency, Starcom Mediavest Group, and has been a keen supporter of the scheme since. Aside from building relationships with mentees, he has particularly enjoyed the mock interview sessions the course facilitates, finding them a fascinating way of meeting a wider variety of students in such quick succession. Working in advertising, every day he is reminded of the lack of diversity within the industry, and how impenetrable it can be. Programmes such as the Career Network are brilliant at giving opportunities but also showing big businesses what talent they are missing out on by just fishing in their regular recruitment pools.
James has been a member of the HCN board since 2017.
