On Friday 17th November, HCN Year 12 STEM students were invited to spend the afternoon at the Francis Crick Institute. The Crick is the largest biomedical research site in Europe, with over 1500 scientists on site. Their building is situated behind St Pancras station, and is worth visiting just to marvel at how impressive it is.
The students had the opportunity to explore the ‘Open for Discovery’ exhibition, before hearing from PhD students based at the Crick who told them about their current research focuses and their journey into biomedical research. The students also learnt about different career paths, and many were keen to apply for work experience placements at the Crick!
Many thanks to Andrew Harrison for inviting HCN students to the Crick for the afternoon.
